We prepare our congregation’s young adults to grow as Jewish educators, become role models in the community and to develop leadership skills. This program allows our high school students to partner in the Judaic education process with our current teachers. While doing this, they will gain valuable experience in communication, compassion, organization, and responsibility.
What does a Madrich/a do?
As a Madrich/a you will be assigned to work with a Hevre teacher and assist them with curriculum development and the instruction throughout the school year. In addition to the classroom component of the program, the Madrichim participate in a Jewish leadership training program. The program will encompass discussions on concepts of Jewish education, enrichment opportunities (i.e. planning all school holiday programs), study of Torah texts. Madrichim will be jointly monitored by the teacher they assist and our Director of Youth Engagement and Education, Rachael VanLandingham.
Paid and Volunteer Positions:
There will be a limited number of paid positions for students in their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school. These spots will be assigned based on a rubrics which assigns points for being enrolled in our 2021-2022 Ma’ayan program, Jewish summer camp, previous work experience as a madrich/a, and the interview process. First year madrichim and students in grades 8-9 are only offered volunteer positions.
Applications for the 23-24 school year should be turned in no later than July 28th.
Paid positions will have interviews the week of August 7th.
