High Holy Day Shabbaton
September 1, 2018 From 12:00 am to 12:00 amEver Wonder Why? Preparing for the Days of Awe Congregation Beth Israel’s Annual High Holy Day Shabbaton Ever wonder what those black and blue drawings in the Machzor mean? Rabbi Mason Barkin will lead an exploration of the art work which appears throughout Mishkan HaNefesh. Every wonder what all of the prayers we “never read” mean? Rabbi Kahn will lead a conversation about the “non- traditional” prayers and translations in Mishkan HaNefesh. Every wonder why we sing the same melody for the Kol Nidre every year? With Cantor Ettinger (and members of our adult choir) we will discuss the philosophy behind some of the oldest music in Jewish tradition. Together we will embark on a journey of mind, body and spirit in preparation for the Days of Awe. (Our High Holy Day Shabbaton is Generously Endowed by Susan and Mark Sendrow)
