Dear CBI Families: For over two decades, our congregation has provided and delivered meals on Thanksgiving Day to individuals and families who are homebound. This wonderful Mitzvah is one of the many great traditions of our historic congregation and has become a sacred ritual for many of our families. Once again, we ask for your help fulfilling this sacred commitment on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022. Our partner agencies this year include the Alzheimer’s Association, About Care, Duet, Foundation for Senior Living, Justa Center, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Arizona Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Banner Olive Branch Senior Center, Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Maricopa County Human Services Senior and Adult Services, YOPAS, The Joy Bus Organization, and Valleylife. This year’s project is being chaired again by Jeanne Chanen. We need your help with the Mitzvah of providing meals to those who would otherwise not have a special meal on that day. Our limited number of meal delivery volunteer positions typically “sell out,” so don’t forget to register to reserve your spot!  Families including children of all ages are encouraged to participate in this mitzvah.  There are two ways in which you can participate in this year’s project: Tzedakah The dinners we provide cost approximately $10.50 per meal. They are prepared by Sprout’s Farmers Market on the northeast corner of Tatum and Cactus. To donate, please send a check in any amount, made payable to Congregation Beth Israel and write “Thanksgiving Meals” in the memo. You can mail or deliver the check to the Synagogue to the attention of Gail Gilmartin. Delivering Meals Volunteers are asked to arrive at the Sprout’s Farmers Market (northeast corner of Tatum/Cactus) any time between 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM on Thanksgiving morning. PLEASE ARRIVE NO EARLIER THAN 7:30 AM. We will be ready with meals.
