The Zimriyah is Congregation Beth Israel’s junior choir, comprised of singers attending the Haberkorn Religious School, from 2nd to 6th grade. The Zimriyah performs a variety of Jewish songs for several celebrations throughout the year at CBI. In addition, it occasionally, represents CBI in the community. Through music, singers learn, sing, develop friendships, and perform with confidence as an engaged member of their congregation.
About its Director:
Meri Levy holds a Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Arizona as well as a Masters in the Art of Teaching, voice emphasis, from Portland State University. She spent 10 years teaching middle school choir in Mesa Public Schools and maintained a private voice studio for 20 years. She has also judged for High School Regional Choirs around the state. Meri also led music for Religious school, children’s services and children’s choir at Beth El Congregation in Phoenix as well as Baby and Me Shabbats at the JCC. Currently, Meri works with children and adolescents as a Speech Language Pathologist.
